Real Investment Ventures’s homes are built in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, an archipelago of islands in the Caribbean sea. St. Vincent is the largest of these islands. The Grenadines comprises Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, Union Island, Palm Island, Petit St. Vincent and a number of small islets all located in some of the best sailing waters of the Southern Caribbean. St. Vincent was inhabited as far back as 7000 years by the Ciboney, and later by Arawaks and Caribs Indians who fought many “wars” with the English and French settlers. The island was ceded to Britain and controlled by Britain from 1795, accounting for its English language and British common law and traditions. Even so, the island has a rich harmonious blend of about 117,000 persons of Carib, African, Portuguese, Scottish, Irish, East Indian, Syrian, Lebanese, Asian, French, English, Italian, German, Canadian and American descent. The islands (St. Vincent and the Grenadines) are located approximately 1600 miles southeast of Miami and 100 miles west of Barbados at the Southern end of the Windward Islands chain and Caribbean archipelago. It is an independent nation since 1979, with a well developed democratic Westminster system of government and common law with its final court of appeal being the Privy Council. The politics of the country is highly stable, and dominated by two main political parties, both of which are near the centre of the political spectrum. The multiple island state has a fairly buoyant economy which up to the early 1990s was driven mainly by the agricultural sector, but has shifted since then to services, with the Tourism sector emerging as the main services sector and on of the main drivers of the new Vincentian economy.
